Melbourne Park will welcome the inaugural Melbourne Esports Open this September. The MEO will be a huge weekend of Esports competition and activities, complete with giant videoscreens, full concert lighting and concert-level audio production. Rod Laver Arena will host the Overwatch Contenders Australia Finals on Saturday 1st September and the League of Legends Oceanic Pro League Finals on Sunday September 2nd.

Margaret Court Arena will host additional tournament matches in various esports titles, while a Gaming Expo in the precinct will include personal appearances by esports pros, free play stations, exhibitor booths, sponsor activations and technology demonstrations.

All entry to MEO2018 will be via the City Entrance, marked below with the green star. All other entrances to Rod Laver Arena and Margaret Court  Arena will be closed. The best way to get to the City Entrance is via the Number 70 tram, disembarking at the Rod Laver Arena tramstop, stop 7B.

OPL League of Legends

The Oceanic Pro League Grand Final will be held at Rod Laver Arena on Sunday 2 September. Watch Oceania's top two League of Legends teams battle it out live. The winning team of the OPL Grand Final will then go on to participate in the League of Legends World Championship.

Overwatch Contenders Australia Season 2 Final

The top four teams from Australia and New Zealand compete live from the Rod Laver Arena for the lions share of the $67,000 Season 2 prize pool. Join Sydney Drop Bears, Kanga Esports, ORDER and Dark Sided to find out which team will lift the trophy and be crowned the best in the region.

JB Hi-Fi Game Zone

The JB Hi-Fi Game On Zone will be your opportunity to be one of the first in Australia to get hands-on with a bunch of new, upcoming titles with your friends and family, with Marvel’s Spider-Man, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2  and Spyro Reignited Trilogy.

Open Tournaments

Margaret Court Arena will play host to a series of open tournaments including Minecraft, Overwatch 3x3 and Forza Motorsport 7. Players will have the chance to win a range of prizes and cash, and need only their valid MEO ticket to enter. Further details on the open tournaments can be found at

High School ELeague Victorian League of Legends State Final

Security Checks & Entry

Security is our number one priority. As a condition of entry all guests are subject to ticket check, bag search and security wanding. We encourage patrons to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start time and reduce the number of items brought into the venue to reduce queue times. Some items are restricted or cannot be brought into Melbourne Park. To avoid disappointment, please check out our conditions of entry here. Laptops and tablets will be permitted into Melbourne Park for this event, and guests will be allowed to use their personal computers around the precinct.

Cosplay props

As per our standard conditions of entry, no functional weapons are allowed in Melbourne Park for Melbourne Esports Open. Costume weapons will be permitted as a part of your cosplay, however this is subject to approval by venue security and compliance with the following rules available here

All costume props and weapons must be inspected and will be approved by security at the entry gate. Any props that do not meet event standards must be cloaked prior to entering the precinct. Any guest found to be misusing their props and weapons may be asked to leave the event or may have their props confiscated.


Patrons may choose between ground passes and standard or premium reserve seating for each day of the event. A ground pass will provide guests with general admission seating in Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena and access to the exhibition and activations in the Melbourne Park Function Center. Guests who purchase a reserve seat will enjoy all of the same access as a ground pass, with the additional benefit of a guaranteed premium seat in Rod Laver Arena.

Only tickets purchased from our official ticketing partner; Ticketek, are valid for this event. Tickets purchased through any other sources may not be valid and you may not be admitted into the show.
